Many drivers have become very conscious of their carbon footprint. These drivers are concerned with the amount of fossil fuels they may be burning and worry about the impact it will have on the environment. The company said it anticipates about one-fourth of the company’s sales will come from electrified cars and SUVs. Audi anticipates its first all-electric SUV, the e-tron quattro concept, to hit the market by 2018. That SUV is expected to provide a range of about 250 miles on one electric charge, Audi said.

But, such a model won’t work too well without charging stations, something Audi is addressing. The company is working on implementing a nationwide, 150-kilowatt fast-charging network to help these drivers of the future.

When driving at speeds above 38 miles per hour, the Audi active lane assist system detects when the vehicle begins to leave the lane without signaling. Gentle, corrective steering efforts assist the driver to remain in their lane. Steering wheel vibration also occurs as an additional warning. Additionally, Audi adaptive cruise control with stop & go uses radar and a camera to help detect vehicles in front and maintain a set distance between vehicles. The system helps maintains the set distance and speed by automatically applying the brakes or accelerating.
