As more and more people express concern about the environment and fuel efficiency, Audi is pledging its first all-electric SUV will hit the market by 2018 with a range of more than 250 miles on one charge. To help prepare, Audi is developing plans to give drivers access to a nationwide, 150-kilowatt fast-charging network. Audi will support the broad adoption of EV technology in the U.S. by developing a nationwide 150 kilowatt fast charging network that would provide an 80 percent charge in only 30 minutes – enough for 200 miles worth of driving in the Audi e-tron quattro.
Until that happens though, there is an excellent new model that has arrived here at Audi of Nashua that is a precursor to the Audi all-electric plan, the 2016 Audi A3 Sportback e-tron. For a combined 204 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, the 2016 Audi A3 Sportback e-tron comes with a 1.4-liter TFSI engine that delivers 150 horsepower and the liquid-cooled, permanent-magnet-driven electric motor delivers 102 horsepower and nearly instantaneous torque.
The A2 Sportback comes with several excellent features, including a lane control alert. When driving at speeds above 38 miles per hour, the Audi active lane assist system detects when the vehicle begins to leave the lane without signaling. Gentle, corrective steering efforts assist the driver to remain in their lane. Steering wheel vibration also occurs as an additional warning. Additionally, Audi adaptive cruise control with stop & go uses radar and a camera to help detect vehicles in front and maintain a set distance between vehicles. The system helps maintains the set distance and speed by automatically applying the brakes or accelerating.
