At Audi of Nashua, your safety is our top priority in every season of the year. With winter quickly approaching, we wanted to reach out with some tips on how to stay safe in the New Hampshire snow and freezing temperatures this year.
- Check your tires: Before winter hits, you’ll want to inspect the condition of your tires and determine if they need to be replaced. If they do not pass the penny test (placing a penny between the tread upside down, you should not be able to see Lincoln’s whole head) or if they generally have a worn-out tread, they need swapped out for new ones. Depending on where you live, you may even consider purchasing special snow tires to combat mother nature this winter.
- Prepare for the worst: Always keep emergency supplies in your vehicle, even if it is spring, summer, or fall. This should include a kit with road flares, jumper cables, and similar items. For winter in particular, it is smart to keep a small shovel, blanket, spare gloves, and maybe even some non-perishable food items in case you get stuck somewhere.
- Don’t rush: When driving on icy and snowy roads, always leave early to give yourself time to get to the destination safely. This includes starting the car a few minutes ahead of time to completely defrost your windows and mirrors. Always obey the speed limit, and when conditions are extreme, take your time and don’t panic.
